Our nation celebrates a birthday today. A birthday that came at great price. Our nation was birthed by the life blood of those who stood against tyranny and threw off the chains of oppression. By those courageous to take a stand when a stand needed to be taken.
Our nation is great. I’m proud to be an American. I love it so much that I am afraid for it. Religious freedoms are vanishing for my children at an alarming rate. For a nation known for tolerance there is less and less tolerance for our Judeo-Christian world view.
When the history books are written I pray that it will be written that this generation was willing to pay the price for freedom. That we were courageous enough to speak up for our religious freedoms and throw off the chains of oppression. That we were willing to take a stand when a stand needed to be taken.
We do have ways to contribute to our patriotism and support religious freedom. We can vote! We can run for office. We can write letters, send emails, sign petitions, make phone calls. We have a voice. But the most important tool I have and the most valuable voice I have is the whispers I take to the heart of my God. He hears us. We are engaged in a spiritual battle that must be won on our knees in prayer as we stand in the full armor of God.
Perhaps our time would be better spent if we stopped complaining about our great nation and it’s leaders got on our knees before a holy God who still loves America. He hasn’t forgotten us. Let’s not forget Him.
God Bless America!
12What joy for the nation whose God is the Lord,
whose people he has chosen as his inheritance.
13The Lord looks down from heaven
and sees the whole human race.
14From his throne he observes
all who live on the earth.
15He made their hearts,
so he understands everything they do.
16The best-equipped army cannot save a king,
nor is great strength enough to save a warrior.
17Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—
for all its strength, it cannot save you.
18But the Lord watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his unfailing love.
19He rescues them from death
and keeps them alive in times of famine.
20We put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
21In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
22Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone.
